Readers, do you think that if we allow to perish and not to publish anymore this people's mouthpiece, truth will be buried in the grave now. Like true soldiers of democracy, we will go on forward and let the truth flows, like a deep river running its natural course.
As we struggle ahead to become more objective, balance and responsible to our commitment, we go a hard way printing it. But here is a good news, our newspaper will come to you twice a month with the help of a few people who always believe in our capacity to bring fair news and information in this hard times. Always young and dashing devonnaire himself, Atty. Manuel Recto, true to his word, never lost confidence to your Editor, who always believes, "in every tears, a victory."
Whoever win as Chairmen in this coming barangay election will not change the outlook, the ordinary Romblomanon family will remain poor.
Do you think they are running just to benefit the people more than themselves? The people will decide collectively this coming barangay elections.
Mainwhile the backers of this candidates for chairmanship, like the Mayors, Governors and Congressman will eat and drink voraciously and go on in their expensive trip abroad.
And to be expected in their speeches, just like their bosses who shouted during last election time from the bottom of their belly to the root of their tongue, that they should be elected because they want to serve the people.
But watch this barangay officials in their next term how they will serve themselves and their bosses.
Many politicians will be richer, not poorer, before their term of office is finished.
They will be fatter, not thinner, soon. They had tried their best to win the last elections. They sucked and slugged for months exhausting themselves, spending millions--because they proclaimed to all, they wanted to serve.
So strange that they would spend so much and go through all the hack-breathing hardship of campaigning only to serve others.
One can serve without being elected!
Can you, reader of Romblon Today, mention any elected official of our province who really wants to serve the people and not himself?
Mention just anyone--may pagbabago ba tayong nakikita ngayon, wala pa, hindi ba?
Of course, I am not speaking anything new.
The poor who sell their votes already knew a long time ago that politicians--all of them--want to serve themselves first, and the poor would not be serve, so why should they not exchange their votes for a few days being able to eat brocolli instead of kangkong?
They knew a long time ago that whoever they voted into office, they the poor would remain waiting.
All the politician are the same. They are for themselves, or for their families, friend and relatives, not for the poor.
Because of this, any poor man who does not sell his vote is a fool--but they can enjoy the circus with hungry stomachs.
